PIEZO WISDOM TOOTH SURGERY

Precise, Comfortable Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Wisdom tooth removal doesn’t have to mean days of swelling and discomfort. At Inspire Dental Clinic in Oud Metha, our doctor uses piezo surgery, an ultrasonic technique that removes bone with precise vibrations instead of a conventional drill. It is gentle on the gums, nerves and surrounding bone, which helps many patients heal more comfortably and get back to normal sooner.

Why Piezo Surgery Is Gentler

Piezo surgery uses ultrasonic micro-vibrations to cut bone. It works on hard tissue such as bone and has little effect on soft tissue such as gums, nerves and blood vessels. This lets the doctor remove bone around a wisdom tooth with great precision and less pressure than a conventional drill.

Benefits of Piezo Surgery

Less Swelling and Bruising

Because soft tissue is protected, many patients notice less swelling and discomfort in the days after surgery.

Precise, Controlled Removal

Micro-vibrations remove only the bone that needs to go, which helps protect neighbouring teeth.

Smoother Recovery

Less trauma during surgery usually means a more comfortable recovery and a quicker return to work and normal eating.

Quieter, Less Vibration

Piezo instruments are quieter and gentler than a traditional drill, which many anxious patients find reassuring.

Bone-Preserving

Preserving healthy bone supports smoother healing. It also matters if you may need an implant or other treatment in the area later.

Gentler on Nerves

The technique is designed to spare soft tissue, which helps lower the risk to nearby nerves, an important consideration with lower wisdom teeth.

Do Your Wisdom Teeth Need to Come Out?

Not every wisdom tooth needs removing. The doctor assesses each one with an examination and digital X-ray, and recommends removal only when it will protect your health or comfort.

Common reasons for removal:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth that are stuck under the gum or growing at an angle
  • Repeated gum swelling or infection around a partly erupted tooth (pericoronitis)
  • Decay in the wisdom tooth or the tooth next to it that’s hard to clean
  • Pressure or damage to neighbouring teeth
  • Pain, jaw stiffness or a bad taste that keeps coming back
  • Before orthodontic or other dental treatment, when advised

Not sure? Book a consultation and we’ll check your wisdom teeth and explain your options clearly, with no pressure to proceed.

Your Wisdom Tooth Surgery, Step by Step

  1. Consultation and X-ray. The doctor examines the tooth, takes a digital X-ray to see its position and roots, and explains whether removal is needed, how it will be done and the cost.
  2. Numbing. The area is fully numbed with local anaesthetic, so you feel pressure but no pain.
  3. Piezo removal. Where bone covers the tooth, ultrasonic piezo instruments gently remove only what’s needed, and the tooth is lifted out, sometimes in sections for a smaller opening.
  4. Closing and aftercare. Dissolvable stitches may be placed. You’ll go home with written aftercare instructions and a direct number to call or WhatsApp.
  5. Follow-up. A review visit is included to check that everything is healing well.

Recovery tips:

  • Bite gently on gauze for 30–45 minutes after surgery
  • Use cold packs on the cheek for the first day to reduce swelling
  • Stick to soft, cool foods for a few days, and avoid hot drinks at first
  • Don’t smoke, use a straw or rinse hard for the first 24–48 hours
  • Take any medication exactly as advised, and call us if pain gets worse after the third day

We had a great experience at the clinic. [the doctor] was professional, kind, and reassuring throughout my wife's wisdom tooth extraction. She made the procedure much less stressful and took good care of her. The staff were also friendly and helpful […] Highly recommended!

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain, only some pressure. Piezo surgery is gentle on surrounding tissue, which helps many patients have a more comfortable recovery.

It uses ultrasonic micro-vibrations, instead of a conventional drill, to remove bone around the tooth. It cuts bone precisely while sparing gums, nerves and blood vessels.

Most wisdom tooth removals take between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the tooth's position. The doctor will give you a time estimate at your consultation.

Most people return to work or study within one to three days. Swelling usually peaks around day two and settles over the following week. A follow-up visit is included to check healing.

Soft, cool foods such as yoghurt, soup (not too hot), mashed potato, eggs and smoothies (without a straw). Avoid crunchy, spicy or very hot food for a few days.

No. We recommend removal only when a wisdom tooth is causing problems or is likely to, for example when it's impacted, decayed or repeatedly infected.

We remove a maximum of two wisdom teeth in one visit, both on the same side, so you can still chew comfortably on the other side. If all four need to come out, we plan two visits.

Many plans cover it when it's clinically needed. Insurance plans are accepted, with direct billing for selected insurers and reimbursement forms for others. We'll check your cover before treatment.
